Club Rules

Safety Prevails Over All Else

No alcoholic liquor shall be consumed on any trip or outing unless the prior consent of the Committee is obtained.

No firearms shall be carried in or on any vehicles on any trips or outings unless the prior consent of the Committee and the express approval of any property owner on whose property such firearms may be used.

It is compulsory that in all soft and open top vehicles that approved roll bars be fitted to the pleasure of the Club Captain.

One approved towing hook or eye must be fitted effectively to the front chassis assembly and one towing pintal hook or eye be fitted to the rear chassis.

All vehicles shall carry the following equipment on club trips:

• An operable fire extinguisher of 1.5 kg dry powder or more. Or two smaller fire extinguishers that together are equal to or more than 1.5 kg.
• Such fire extinguisher/s to be securely mounted but must be readily accessible.
• A suitable shovel or spade.
• An axe.
• One minimum of 6 metre 5000 Kg breaking strain nylon or stretch type approved rope. (10 metres is recommended)
• One large shackle - 16 mm pin size minimum (5/8”)
• First Aid Kit containing supplies to treat minor injuries such as cuts, abrasions and burns

Transport regulations apply on all club trips

All club vehicles travelling in convoy on the open road shall maintain such a distance between each other that will enable other road users ample room to pass with safety. When travelling in convoy all drivers must keep a reasonable check on the following club vehicle.

When travelling in close convoy, no driver shall proceed unless the vehicle immediately behind him or her is in sight.

Notice must be given to the Officer of the Day when leaving before completion of any club trip.

Gates to be closed. The second vehicle in line has the responsibility of ensuring the gate is left how it is found by the lead vehicle, then rejoins at the end of the line.

Horns will not be sounded except:

• To indicate to another vehicle that some minor matter needs attention (a series of short blasts).
• In the case of extreme emergency (one prolonged blast until assistance arrives).

All visitors are expected to abide by the club rules. The Club shall not be held responsible for members or visitors personal property. Permission, preferably in writing, shall be obtained from owners of properties before club members go onto their land, and any damage caused to be notified to the property owner by the Officer of the Day.

The minimum number of vehicles to attend a club run shall be no less than four.

All club recovery equipment to be carried on all club runs, such equipment to be the responsibility of the Officer of the Day.

The Club Captain or trip leader shall inspect each vehicle before every club run to ensure it complies with the Club Rules. The Club Captain shall have the authority, after consultation with the Officer of the Day, to forbid any driver to take part in any club run if he/she considers that the driver’s vehicle does not comply with the Club Rules. In the absence of the Club Captain, the trip organiser shall be responsible for vehicle inspections.

Members children shall have full membership rights, including voting, upon them reaching the age of 15 years, and will pay full membership fees upon leaving Secondary School. Any family member of this club, other than the principal member, wishing to enter the National Rally Series, is required to pay separately, his or her own current affiliation costs to the NZFWDA. Payment is to be made to this club and will be forwarded to the Association on the members’ behalf.

Club Recommendations:

It is strongly recommended that all vehicles carry spare oil, water, petrol, brake fluid, a tyre pressure guage and basic tool kit.

It is recommended that club meetings be held on the second Tuesday of every month and club runs be held every second full weekend of each month.

Please remember that all equipment must be securely mounted, as loose items can be dangerous in extreme circumstances.

It is recommended a spare wheel and standard jacking equipment be carried in all vehicles.
